Step2 3a‑3b Model text analysis (6‑20 mins)

Please open your books and look at 3a. Read the online post silently by yourself. Think about two questions: Who does the writer admire? Why? You have 3 minutes. Start reading.

Yes, the writer admires Mozi. Because he was a great thinker. His ideas of love and peace are still inspiring.

First, style: expository.

Person: first person & third person. We use “I” to show our feeling, use “he / she” to talk about the person.

Tenses: simple past for his life story; simple present for our opinions and influence.

Step3 Writing skills & Brainstorm 3c (20‑32 mins)

Boys and girls. Now we know how the model article is organized. Let’s learn our writing task: The hero in my heart.

Look at our writing requirements. We need three parts in our article:

Who is your hero?

Why do you admire him or her?

What will you do to be like him or her?

Let’s look at the sample about Marie Curie on the screen. Let’s translate them together.

Look, the article has clear structure. First introduce the hero. Then tell his or her great achievements. Next talk about your reasons for admiring. At last talk about what you will learn from him or her.

Now work in groups of four. Brainstorm your own hero. You can choose Mozi, Marie Curie, Zhong Yang or other people. Fill in your ideas. You have 4 minutes. I will walk around and help you. Start.
