Upon arriving home, Kathryn went upstairs to organiza some bedding. 

She knew that it would be a tight squeeze, but she was determined to make her friend feel welcome and comfortable. As she moved furniture around and cleared out some of her belongings, Kathryn couldn't help but feel a glimmer of excitement. This unexpected turn of events had brought an opportunity for companionship that she had longed for all these years.

A week later, Deanna arrived with a grateful smile on her face. She had lost everything in the flood, and Kathryn's offer of shelter was a lifeline for her. They spent the next few days settling into their new arrangement, sharing meals and stories, and gradually forming a bond that only grew stronger with time.

Living together, Kathryn and Deanna discovered the joys of having a true friend. They would spend hours talking and laughing, reminiscing about their childhood and discussing their dreams for the future. The loneliness that once haunted Kathryn's hilltop home was replaced by warmth and friendship.

Over time, the rain stopped, and the floodwaters receded. The village began to rebuild, and Deanna found a new place to live. A week later, the local government cleared a room for Deanna ,and  it's was time for her to say goodbye to Kathryn.

As the week came to an end, the local government managed to find a temporary housing solution for Deanna. It was a small apartment in the village, but it offered her a chance to rebuild her life. Although Kathryn was happy to see her friend finally have a place of her own, saying goodbye was bittersweet.

On Deanna's last day at Kathryn's hilltop home, they sat together on the porch, gazing at the view they had come to cherish. The sun had begun to set, casting a golden hue over the landscape. Kathryn couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness knowing that their daily chats and shared moments would soon become memories.

"I can't thank you enough, Kathryn," Deanna said, her voice filled with gratitude. "You have been such a blessing in my life. I don't know how I would have made it through this difficult time without you."

Tears welled up in Kathryn's eyes as she hugged her friend tightly. "You don't have to thank me, Deanna," she whispered. "True friendship means being there for each other, no matter what. You've brought so much joy and companionship into my life. Just promise me that we'll stay in touch."

Deanna nodded, her own eyes filled with emotion. "Of course, Kathryn. We may be separated physically, but our bond will always remain strong. You've shown me the true meaning of friendship, and I won't forget it."

With one last hug, they said their goodbyes, knowing that their paths would cross again. As Deanna walked towards the waiting car, Kathryn watched her go, feeling a mix of sadness and contentment. She knew that even though their living arrangements had changed, their friendship would endure.

In the days that followed, Kathryn adjusted to the quiet solitude of her hilltop home once more. She missed Deanna's presence, but she held onto the memories they had created together.
