Class begins. Good morning, class! Sit down please. Last class, we talked about ways of learning different subjects. Today we focus on English learning.

We will learn more useful English‑learning methods in this lesson.

Step 2 2a Vocabulary & Pair Talk (5‑15 mins)

Open your books, turn to activity 2a. Look at these learning ways on your screen. Please read them silently first.

Let’s read these phrases together:

look up words in a dictionary, keep a learning diary, speak English with friends, take part in class discussions, read aloud to practise speaking, repeat dialogues from English films.

Time’s up. Now turn to your deskmate. Talk: “How do you learn English?” You can use these phrases. You have 3 minutes.

Step 3 Pre‑listening & While‑listening 2b‑2c (15‑30 mins)

Boys and girls. Now we will listen to a conversation from a school English club. Look at 2b. The topic question is “What are some good ways to learn English?”

Before listening, look at the chart. We need to write key learning ways after listening.

First listening. Please listen carefully and finish the chart in 2b. I will play the audio.

Now look at activity 2c. There are six tips A‑F. Listen again, and choose the tips people talk about in the conversation.

Step 4 Post‑listening 2d, Summary & Homework (30‑40 mins)

Now activity 2d. Learning English also brings problems. Look at these difficulties on the screen: can’t read quickly, afraid of making mistakes, can’t remember new words, hard to follow conversations, can’t use grammar correctly…

Work with your partner. Talk about: What is your English learning difficulty? And how can you fix it? You can use the tips on PPT for help. You have 4 minutes.

Time is over. Which pair wants to show your talk?
